I grew up in Southwest Florida with my Mom, Dad and younger brother. My journey with the Lord began at age 4 when my Dad and I accepted Christ while attending a small Baptist church in Florida. My Dad’s salvation was crucial to our family and the direction of our future. I am so thankful for this time and this foundation with Christ. I had the opportunity to learn about Christ and how to know Christ by watching my parents model their relationships with Christ. Prayer and Bible study was a daily part of our home. My mom tells me that I would teach my Barbie’s about God’s love and how Jesus died for our sins. My Dad says that these teaching times led him to give his life to Christ. My mom says she knew then, when I was four, that I would be a teacher when I grew up.
As a teenager I came to “Own” my personal salvation with Christ while on a MIssions Trip with Youth With a Mission in Tampa, Florida. I was sixteen years old when I realized my life was not my own, but God’s to use for His glory. I began to seek God for direction and how to use my gifts to honor Him. I felt strongly that I was to pursue Christian Education as my vocation.
During my college years, I took a season to Study God’s word and serve as a Missionary through Youth With a Mission in Tyler, Texas. During this time I completed a training titled “Discipleship Training School”. After completion of my training I joined a Youth With A Mission Mobile team called Regen. We traveled the country, living out of a van, presenting the Gospel to teens through a Drama Presentation called “De La More." This time of ministry and service has prepared me for trusting God, obeying even when I don’t understand, and learning how to lead people to Christ through God’s word.
My husband, Jeff, and I have known each other since we were kids. We became wonderful friends while attending Youth Ministry together at First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte. We began dating in college. Jeff and I have been married since January 2008. Together we have two wonderful children. Our daughter Alexia is 6 and our son Wyatt is 3. As a family we enjoy camping, hiking and being outdoors.
I graduated from Edison College in Ft. Myers Florida with an A.A. in Early Childhood Education. I went on to earn my B.S. in Elementary Education from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. I am currently working on my M.A. in Christian Ministry and Education from Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee.
I have been a classroom teacher for thirteen years. I taught at Community Christian School in Port Charlotte, Florida for nine years. When my family and I moved to Maryville, TN I taught at Maryville Christian School for four years. During my time teaching I spent time volunteering at First Baptist Church in Port Charlotte, Florida and at Dotson Memorial Baptist in Maryville, Tennessee. God lead our family to Victory in 2015 and I have served on staff as the Children’s Director since August 2017.
Hope for Victory
My hope for Victory is that we would assist families in helping our Children build a solid foundation on Christ. It is my honor to teach our children about God’s word and about how the Bible is one seamless story of Redemption and Salvation. My prayer is that our children will grow to know, love, honor and serve God even after they leave Pistol Creek Kids.
